Founded in 1971, Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute is a world leader in highly specialized laboratory testing. In addition to being the resource for our regional laboratories and many competitors' needs for rare and unique testing, Nichols Institute plays a key role in Quest Diagnostics research and development efforts.

Over the last three decades, Nichols Institute has pioneered many new tests and technologies and has often been first in providing access to advances in laboratory testing. Nichols Institute works with academia and the biotechnology industry to transfer innovative tools for risk assessment, diagnosis and patient management to the treating physician and their patients.

The Academic Associates program is comprised of researchers from academic institutions who are key contributors to the Nichols Institute research and development program. These highly renowned thought leaders are from leading academic medical centers; they participate in the Nichols Institute R&D strategy development and in technology transfer to Quest Diagnostics.

Our Biotechnology Affairs program provides continuing access to the discovery power of biotechnology companies. Nichols Institute has collaborative R&D projects with numerous healthcare industry leaders and biotech firms.
